DRAFT Beyonce pulling a Rob Patz on Ciara + booze/smoking rant

Not exactly a new video but by gosh i love it! My day started out with an insatiable desire to listen to  ‘And I’m Telling You, I’m Not Going’ (both Hudson and Holliday versions) over and over..and over. Which naturally lead me to ‘One Night Only’ then BAM by noon I was off and running on my Beyonce youtube kick. Not exactly a new video but by gosh i love it!

Speaking of boys and girls,

don’t you think Beyonce’s ‘If I Were A Boy” TOTALLY bit Ciara’s ‘Like A Boy’ concept and video??? Like, besides the obvious cinematic similarities and themes, the basic title and premise of the Beyonce’s track mirrors Ciara’s 2007 girl power hit. Strange..?

Hmm i’m jus sayin! Eitherway, I’m still feeling Ciara’s ‘Like A Boy’ more then Beyonce’s ‘If I Were A Boy’…mostly out of pure nostalgia of 2007.. i guess PLUS Ciara released it first, spent time licking on all those stick-on tattoos and spiced it up w/ those  thuglette dancers fer good measure.

Not bad for a pop song at all.

That said, I’m def not taking anything away from Beyonce’s video because it’s quite different in a few ways. For one, it’s a ballad, and Two, the video takes on a more literal + realistic cinematic approach to the age-old Double Standard issue.

Blech…I’ve been smoking considerably more since winter hit. I smoke a pack a week, whereas before i was fine with 1 pack every 2-4 weeks +  bouts of no smoking in between. But now! fuck..

I’m blaming this addiction flare-up on my depressingly lame weather during these lonnnggg winter months  here in Edmonton. As it goes, there’s an old assumption that people who live in colder climates drink like fishes and I’m gonna be the 342374917423 person to validate that assumption a little bit more cuz…

…when it’s -40 and the sun goes down at 3:30PM all i wanna do is smoke weed. But if i can’t do that, then my second inclination is to f’ing drink wine till i fall asleep; It’s like a Pavlovian itch.  No sun means sin. Hmmm. … might be bad? … might be slightly disconcerting? Probably a bit concerning, BUT a lot of people are with me on this one. Some people turn to beer(Albertans), or vodka (as in Russia)during this winter months.. but whatever it is you turn to, across the board,up in the north, it’s booze.

I even read in a survival handbook that if you’re stuck in the arctic with a sustainable food source you should get Drunk, not stupid drunk, but  happy amused drunk…like, tipsy drunk enough to drown the day away (i guess).

The survival handbook also suggested playing cards or board games but f that noise; can’t i do that while drinking anyways? For the rest of us not stuck in Antarctica but still braving months of -40 weather  in order to catch the bus’, start the cars’, and work work work board games won’t do shit.  Don’t get me wrong, winters are long and quite easily get me bored… but not that bored.
