Introducing Lisa Nova!

I just went on a 30 minute lurk of her website and youtube page. No joke, every single video is hilarious, witty and thankfully full of her hot hot face.

The above is titled: “My New Addiction” , and as the title implies…she gets hooked. hilar.

This one is lisa nova and a friend are impersonating Drea Dimatteo and James Gandolfini from The Sopranos ( god, i know i spelt both of their names horribly wrong…but i was too lazy to imbd that shit). eitherway th clip is hilarious.

supernatural powers baby! magic cigarettes!

From her bio she now lives in LA, and had a 4 episode gig on MadTV before it got cancelled.

I”M IN LOVE.

Golden Compass “Meet your Own Daemon” Test

November 22, 2008 · 5 Comments

image of the old AWESOME website.

image of the old AWESOME website.

WAHHHHH

They’ve downgraded the Golden Compass website! So now the myst-like CGI interactive quiz is no more! which is exactly what i wanted to post on here for everyone to take.

According to the website:

In the magical world of the Golden Compass, every person has a life companion in the form of an animal called a “Daemon.” A Daemon is a cross between the soul and a best friend. The animal form it takes is a manifestation of the host’s true personality.

I’ll lurk around and try and find the test…then i’ll explain why this test is AWESOME.

THIS ONE, this the most accurate i found but it’s still not as cool as the original website with it’s antique buttons and fairy dust mouse trailers.

I was a jackal.

CTV Edmonton security cameras caught the meteor approach and then create a massive flash in the skyline on Thursday evening, Nov. 20, 2008.

A CTV map details the area of western Canada where the flash was reportedly visible.

A CTV map details the area of western Canada where the flash was reportedly visible.

keep in mind, it’s pitch black dark out at quater to 6, and the fireball lit the sky enough in this picture to make it seem like daylight!

Jan and I were driving southbound in erminskin when we saw the meteorite to the left of us. It was a HUGE orange ball, with a blue’ish tail trailing behind it. The sheer speed and distinctive arc made it pretty clear that is was from outside our atmosphere coming in.
Every car in the vicinity just stopped dead in their tracks, and it seemed like everything went silent as we collectively waited for the aftershock of impact…which i swear was somewhere around South Edmonton Common. after a few seconds we drove on with a big WTF look on our faces. I really thought it was the end of the world, the stage was set..the huge fireball zooming towards earth, the second long slow-mo life flashing before your eyes scene, heck we even had the sterotypical black president except instead of morgan freeman it was barack. I genuinely thought we were all screwed for a second.

We phoned global to report the sighting and they told us their phones had been ringing off the hook. The radio stations were equally jammed with calls. some people saw it as far away as saskatoon, and in some parts of alberta people could still see the trail marks it left in the sky….soo i guess it didn’t land in south edmonton common, and i guess we aren’t all doomed.
all in all
it was magnificent and completely unnerving to see.

Rightnow i’m on hold with the transcipt office of Alberta…up until now I forgot why apply for university was such a bif fucking bummer. The process is so inefficent it kills me. WHich makes me wonder, if the process to just apply is this slow and archaic, what is the actual establishment process like?

OooOo they’ve switched to neo contemp jazz!

Which reminds me, does anyone remember back in the day there were those games you could call into at the front of the white or yellow pages where you would phone a number then get to play a game, and depending on which option (Number) you chose would determine how the the game pans out. anyone remember that shit? Well i think they should have that in replacement of the elevator music. Or at least give an option. For people who are to busy to play games, they get te Kenny G. For everyone else, they get some real stimulation. ffffffffuckk.

congotronics: gettin down one time

November 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I thought this was pretty cool when Alanna sent it my way tonight. it’s a clip of this Kongolese ‘electro’ band. The official genre seems to be congotronics, which is think is one of the coolest sounding genres to come out as of late. Although this sounds like traditional central african music, i think what gives it a electro edge is the fact that they’ve wired the traditional instruments like the sanza and fingered the shit out of it.

Alanna as also sent me this short clip of lil african kids getting down at what looks to be a dance gathering. Looks way more fun than what i’m doing right now…which is watching usual suspects and typing this up for you guys to read. so enjoi!

Mission includes installing system that will recycle urine for drinking

Top priority for the Endeavour crew, poised to lift off Friday night from Florida for a 15-day mission: installing hardware designed to recycle urine into drinking water. this quote pretty much sums it up: “There is definitely a yuck factor,” said Endeavour astronaut Sandy Magnus. Despite her candor, she can make the reclaimed urine seem as appealing as the water from a mountain stream. “We are not really drinking our own urine. We are drinking water that has been reclaimed from a process with urine as the input,” Magnus said, the truth sounds just as bad as lying to yourself.

  • Activists ask Obama to create team to focus on Darfur in first 100 days

“WASHINGTON (CNN) — Human rights groups are asking President-elect Barack Obama to pay early attention to the crisis in Sudan’s troubled Darfur region, where government forces have waged a bloody war against militias that some international critics have characterized as genocide.”

uummmmmm what?  i think the jury came in a mighty long time ago with that verdict. and yes, it’s full blown genocide. FUCK. i hate CNN. Either way Barack is supposed to be vanquishing this issue asap so no fear! Obama’s here!

sudan_genocide_genocide_in_sudan_4sudan_genocide_genocide_in_sudan_1

-In the past five years, an estimated 300,000 people have been killed through direct combat, disease or malnutrition. -UN

- 2.7 million people have been forced to flee their homes because of fighting among rebels, government forces and allied Janjaweed.

-During the presidential campaign, Obama called the crisis in Darfur “a collective stain on our national and human conscience” and said he would make ending it a priority on “day one.”

-A grant total of 0 Nintendo Wii consoles have been sold within the entire country.

-Countries like China have a vast oil interest in Sudan: During the campaign, Obama has said that if elected, the crisis in Darfur would be elevated to a major issue in the bilateral U.S. dialogue with China.

christmas wish list #1

November 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Every Christmas the reluctant consumer in me rears it’s ugly consumerhead and wishes/expects/whines for the latest in ‘whatever’s hot’. Taking it’s only 43 days till the big XMAS i decided to start posting my wishlist and i’m toping it off with this little number here.

My only qualm is that it’s not nearly big enough to hold a proper meals worth of soup or hot chocolate… The website says it holds 1 1/2 cups, but it looks much smaller to me not unless the saltines are ginormous.

anywho i found it on this cooking site this morning while i was to lazy to cook, but hungry enough to look at food from my bed.

November 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Korean boy sings Mariah Carey. I don’t have much info on this singer, but all i know is his pitch is freakishly spot-on. Also i have to say his choice of song ‘Touch My Body’ couldn’t be better. I hope this video makes your wednesday!

Whoa. i just found thhis clip after watching Mr.TouchMy Body! It’s yet another Korean lad singing Sisqos ‘Incomplete’ and besides a tinch of over nasal pitch he’s fucking impressive. Better than me. Better than most. Way to go buddy!

my only question is: why is everyone just sitting there? maybe it’s a round table kareokee contest or something.

FINALLY: The EXPLODING bike lock

November 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

all hail micheal!

all hail micheal!

Michael Lambourn gives cyclists one more bullet in the barrel with his SmartLock design. It’s a cable lock with colored liquid inside that explodes everywhere if the lock is cut. It’s a clever idea, and one almost certainly hatched after a freak skunk accident, and I applaud Michael Lambourn for making an effort to make cycling safer for paranoid city dwellers like myself.

here’s a video of the fun going down:
